Note: I often come back, re-read and even
edit my poems. They, like me,
are a work in progress. I may change a word here and there or I may add
a whole stanza! Some have art, and some will get illustrated later on.
I just can't stop...seems I am writing my life in my poetry these days..
Being Brave in the Face of Life
(I needed this "talking to" myself, so I crafted this poem)
Just last night I sat watching a story on TV,
At first I thought WOW, he's braver than me!
When suddenly it became clear to my mind,
That I am brave too, in facing all that I find!
I truly do not think most people ever realize,
How brave they are in their every day lives.
I think we don't see our own struggles as clearly,
Of acknowledging ourselves we seem so leery.
Think of your friend's trials life has given to them,
Think of how you feel when they conquer and win!
Now turn that admiration to yourself and proclaim,
I really am worthy of precisely the same!
We ALL move through lives of struggle and strife,
Just remember we're ALL brave in the face of life!
So whenever you see another that inspires you,
You can bet they're looking back thinking that too!

Why do I feel frightened to write out my bills,
I wonder why paying them makes me feel ill.
I might sense a need to keep all of my money,
After all, it's my security in this nasty economy.
Yet more than this, once I start to pay some,
I must be grown up, that is just simply no fun!
It is being an adult and so freaking serious,
I would much prefer being completely frivolous!
Yes, I know I'd much rather be "Peter Pan",
But I positively must pay that darn tax man!
So why am I sitting here spinning my wheels,
Writing this poem instead of paying my bills,
When I have "the cure" for these very ills!?
So I will if you will, and then we will survive,
Until next the time when more bills arrive...
Looking On the Night Sky
(there is something so beautiful about seeing a moonlit sky
with just a few very bright stars, and some clouds lit by both
the moon and the ambient light from below. I hope to do an
art piece for this poem sometime.)
Why am I compelled to gaze upon the moon at night?
Is it because it's somehow a calming, reassuring sight?
Why does the Milky Way bring such a smile to my face?
Is it because it gives me a particular sense of place?
Men endlessly investigate our planets and stars,
To gain order and knowledge about where we are,
But in spite of wondering how all of life got it's start.
Stars spark imagination and deeply touch our hearts.
Yes despite all of those wonderful lofty reasons,
that men look to the skies in all of the seasons,
It's the simple truth in our own personal reality,
As we realize that our loved ones also can see,
These same heavenly sights up in their night sky,
And this brings to our hearts a deep soulful sigh.
